Carrying Butoh into the 21st Century

Vangeline, a Butoh artist and performer, will visit campus on Friday, April 8 for a 3 p.m. lecture on the history of Butoh dance and a performance at 7:30 p.m. that night, both in the Class of ’56 Dance Theatre at the Schwartz Center.

Vangeline studied the avant-garde form Butoh with Japanese masters Katsura Kan and Yoshito Ohno, Diego Pinon and others. She has performed the ritual dance style in Japan and France and performed and taught across the United States.
